5 Upcoming 2018 Wedding Trends that I’m Crazy About

the blog:

From the Knot, Vogue to the ever classic Martha, there is a lot of new, modern trends buzzing the internet for this year’s wedding season.

Whenever these articles come out, I get equally as excited about them as if I was planning a wedding. Because let’s face it, we all want a jaw-dropping, uniquely curated wedding to experience. Brides want to have a day that her guests will never forget and truthfully, us photographers want to have your wedding plastered all over our social media accounts.

So, if you’re in the planning process right now, maybe take one (or a few) of these ideas into consideration:

1. Moody Florals:

Girl, I’m all about moody! I saw this trend start at the end of last season and I was very pleased with the results. Moody, rich tone florals paint a better romance to that bouquet that you so lovingly haul around all day. The contrast against a bride cuddled in the arms of her groom in her stark white dress is love story perfection.

2. Experiences Over Favors:

This is my love language. I will always choose experiences over gifts, chain restaurants and department stores. I want memories over clutter and I can imagine guests appreciating the same. Insert food truck

3. No More Matchy-Matchy:

This one stopped me dead ad really opened my eyes to a totally different perspective. Instead of staying to an overall color palette, try building different moods and textures by treating each part of your day as a new act. Kind of goes back to gifting your guests with an unforgettable experience.
How I could imagine this working… a late afternoon ceremony on the beach: Keep it light and airy. Reception going into the night: Bring out the metallics and deep hues.

4. Unexpected Venues:

YAAAAASSSS! This trend is God’s gift to photographers. We die every time a bride cuts her own path by booking a creative venue. From art museums, abandoned buildings, glass covered courtyards to even the really surprising, historic cemetery.

5. Bridal Attire with Black Accents:

I can’t think of anything more modern than brides wearing a touch of black. It says bold, strong and tailored. Carrie from Sex and the City would even approve. 😉
