Tricia + Anthony | Northern New York Wedding

the blog:

I first met Tricia and Anthony a couple years ago at their family session with their three foster children. Even then I remember being in awe of the the leaps of strength they possessed to give those children a safe place and all the love they deserved. The children were obsessed with Tricia and Anthony and I was, too.

So when I received a message from Tricia asking if I could capture their winter wedding at the Tailwater Lodge in Altmar, New York, I answered in a resounding (a little desperate) YES!  You see, this couple in my book, are heroes or maybe angels on earth. They deserved to be SPOILED on their day for all the sacrifices and hard work they so selflessly give to others and I wanted to see their sweet (almost adopted. YAY!) baby boy – who can’t be shared on here due to the adoption process – sorry guys. But believe me when I say he’s SUPER cute.

Now that I gave you some insight as to why I’m so excited to share this wedding, let’s actually get to the details…

When I arrived at the lodge, it was a blistering 12 degrees with clear sunny skies and snowmobilers arriving by the minute for a quick drink and some heat. The hope of having any pictures outside was quickly crossed off from my timeline as I unloaded my gear.

Still shivering, I made my way to the reception area, then the chills were replaced with jaw dropping gasps of the ceremony’s beautifully draped altar to the little pinecones delicately sprinkled out at the sweetheart table. Being the second time I had shot at Tailwater, I was very impressed with the continued professionalism of the team the venue has.

Moving through the preparations for the ceremony was a piece of cake. Everyone was peaceful and focused. There was no drama, ruined plans or ripped attire- just an overall giddiness for the day.

Then came the ceremony…

Now, I’ll let you in on a little secret- wedding photographers WANT their couples to ugly cry when they see each other. Why? Obviously more emotions makes for a better picture but whenever we get to witness these overly emotional moments, we cry too. Well, at least I do anyways. And you can’t mistake true love when you see tears fall.

That’s exactly what Anthony did when he saw Tricia escorted by her loving father and sweet boy. And I? Sniffling through each click.

I don’t hate my job in the slightest! Especially when it comes to serving clients such as these.
